Pleased to finally find a leaf mine! Agromyzidae are a family of tiny flies whose larva make these sorts of fun mins in leaf tissues. My sense is that they've had a late start this year generally - probably another thing smacked hard by the insane heat of 2022. #flies #diptera #WildlifeRecording
Found some rather excellent inverts today at #FarIngsNNR - Xysticus spm predating a blue-tailed Damsel female, a bonny metallic leader beetle Donacia clavipes, and although apparently common but something I dont often see (and amazingly named) Golden-bloomed grey longhorn beetle.

Walking with the baby pram yesterday and a helpfully sleeping bairn let us stay nice and quiet to ID the interesting hopping birds in the bushes. Siskin and Goldcrest added to my patch list for the year. 53spp and way ahead of this time last year. Almost all #lowcarbonbirding too.

Bloody loved my #lowcarbonbirding run around #FarIngsNNR. 6 miles, 26 species and adding grey heron, bullfinch, greenfinch, little grebe, and wigeon to my year list for 45sp.

3 weeks until my new book is out 👀👇

Thought this was a good time to reflect on the commercial sales, reception, and use of it's predecessor, The Archaeology of Roman York.

‘The Archaeology of Roman York’ Review: Commercial book sales and reception

The Station in #Richmond, North Yorkshire is a former train station converted into a cafe, arts centre and cinema. It is, simply, a lovely space.

15 species this morning on my birding walk with small fry. hampered by not going able to stand still for more than 5seconds and the places I can walk with the buggy.

Still, added great black-backed gull to 2023 list for 31spp. on patch.

Gotta love a Victorian #postbox anytime.

Happy Holidays and Seasons Greetings to this chap, who must have had mixed feelings about it all.

Had a short walk around the beautiful old parts of #Louth today with the bairn in pram.

It's got some great history.
