I have a big ask for the fediverse:

I'm looking for a professional voice actor/audiobook narrator who would be willing to chat with me about the industry. It's something I seriously want to pursue but am struggling with self-confidence and where to start. Looking for some guidance, support, maybe a bit of feedback. I know there are tons of websites, and I've been researching. I'd just like to have an honest chat with someone experienced (& not trying to sell me something).

Pls boost for reach

FAO Yvette Cooper:

If you're concerned about terrorists, how about proscribing Homeland a group explicitly organising to strike terror into asylum seekers lodged in hotels across the county.... and by doing so stoke racial conflict.

But of course, you might also say: they have a 'legitimate grievance' & a right to protest; if so, perhaps you might want to listen to the widespread criticism of your decision to proscribe Palestine Action?

Ok, this one from @davidallengreen gave me chills and made my hairs stand on end:

So very, very true, and something I've been (less articulately) mulling over for a while now.

Labour’s civil liberties deficit.

The proscription of Palestine Action is no anomaly: it’s part of a Labour trend of needing to be seen as tough on law and order.

In the 4 years since the Taliban seized control of Afghanistan, the country has faced slow economic growth, increased poverty due to the opium ban, and draconian gender and social restrictions, but the group remains entrenched in power, writes William Byrd. https://www.lawfaremedia.org/article/where-does-afghanistan-stand-after-four-years-of-taliban-rule

The Q. of empty homes & their occupancy is an often discussed aspect of the UK's housing crisis.

Here is a useful BBC In Depth piece exploring both the scope of the problem & some previous policy interventions (including a successful Coalition programme) that have reduced the level of unoccupied housing.

Bringing unoccupied housing back into use might not completely solve the housing crisis but would make a major contribution to its alleviation.

Empty home crisis: Why aren't they being used to solve shortages?

There are almost 720,000 empty homes in England. And many more on social housing waiting lists. Is using one to help solve the other a case of a missed opportunity?
