The @OpenScienceNL budget will be cut in half if the plans that were announced today by our government go through.
While cuts in science are being made across the board, this reduction is disproportionate and extremely disappointing.
We urge the minister and Parliament to seriously reconsider these cuts. Addressing today’s and tomorrow’s major societal challenges simply cannot be accomplished with closed science.
'This reduction of the budget by half is a severe blow to open science. Successive Dutch governments have rightly invested in making science more accessible, transparent, and collaborative. Coupled with the other funding reductions, this drastic cut threatens to erode the country's hard-won advancements and leadership in the field.’
