The silence of the Royal Society in the face of Elon Musk's rampage (a member of the RS since 2018) across US science is incomprehensible to me.

We must all draw the line somewhere in the face of authoritarian attacks and this is mine.

'stepping out of the frame'

Sometimes I think, if I disappeared, most people probably wouldn't even notice for a long time. I am like a living shadow. Shortly after it has faded, you can no longer be sure whether it was ever there at all. Maybe I should step out of the existing frame. That might change the complete picture.
