I'm getting frustrated trying to follow people on different #mastodon instances -- the public profile directories seem to show accounts in a non-obvious order, and cross-instance following requires some really unpleasant cut-and-pasting.

I'm considering writing a script to read an instance's public profiles and produce a CSV which could be reviewed and imported. However, #scraping seems to have a bad rap in the #fediverse. What are the #ethics? Is there an easier way to find my friends who've migrated to h-net.social or historians.social (or any of a dozen other servers) and have public accounts?
