Librarian in a county system. Big proponent of kindness and compassion.

I love to chat and interact. If you've followed me and not gotten a follow back, it's likely because we haven't interacted yet!

It's National Library Week. We still care about your privacy at the library. The Library Freedom Project has a great set of resources to help you do things like:

- strip AI from your Gmail
- avoid digital scams
- understand Big Data
- reduce harm from doxxing
- using Signal as safely as possible

They're written in plain English and try to help you do things better acknowledging that there's no such thing as perfect privacy.

Now seems like a good time to share the film “Persepolis.” If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it.

The animated film is an autobiographical story about a young woman coming of age during Iran’s revolution in the 70s.

Marjane Satrapi is an multi-disciplinary artist. Her art and storytelling is brilliant.

I made #sourdough ciabatta this weekend. It came out perfect! Using just my own starter. The recipe is from here: https://youtu.be/4so36onr_0g?si=hDCBYaDv0hos14Gm

I LOVE ciabatta. This might be a problem. #bread #bread_baking

Happy International Transgender Day of Visibility!
We're everywhere and we're cool.

Here's the trans pride flag 🏳️‍⚧️ on a mid-90s Pentium running DOS.

Today is the International Day of Trans Visibility 🏳️‍⚧️

Transgender people have always existed and always will. At the Newsmast Foundation, we will always advocate for the trans community and work hard to ensure that the spaces we build feel welcoming to trans people.

If you'd like to learn more about trans visibility and equality, please see this resource by the Human Rights Council: https://www.hrc.org/campaigns/international-transgender-day-of-visibility

The government says journalists and sources who are living in the United States illegally don’t have First Amendment rights.

But the First Amendment was written to limit government power, not let officials decide whose voices are worth hearing.

No First Amendment for some immigrant journalists or sources, gov’t says

The administration’s argument in Estefany Rodríguez’s case that the First Amendment doesn’t apply to people in the U.S. who lack legal status could silence some reporters and sources

I have a piece out in The Guardian today on how the internet is becoming a fully surveilled digital panopticon and why we need to fight back
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2026/mar/02/ban-children-social-media-biometic-data-surveilled
The world wants to ban children from social media, but there will be grave consequences for us all

Age-verification systems require collecting sensitive data to support the biometric information. In no time, the internet will become a fully surveilled digital panopticon, says technology journalist Taylor Lorenz

Just tried this recipe to make #vegan Donner Kebobs: https://theeburgerdude.com/vegan-doner-kebab/

VERY easy! We only picked up one pack of name brand vegan ground "beef." I don't usually mess with them, but this way helps stretch out the "beef."

They sort of remind me of steam umms which I used to love.
