Australia has created the most cost-effective rooftop solar industry in the developed world - and it shows:

1. Australia consistently has the highest per capita adoption rate globally, with over one third of all households now having rooftop solar, totalling more than four million installations.

2. In South Australia, more than half of all homes have rooftop solar.

Australia leads per capita as rooftops turn homes into power stations & BESS scales fast. Centralized grids aren’t competing anymore—they’re being replaced faster than linear models anticipated

It's not just sheep that like solar over farmland - solar panels provide farmworkers shelter from the sun and reduces fatigue:

'A recent study in Colorado USA found that farmworkers can also benefit. It spoke to workers and took various physical heat stress metrics, finding that the panels can help farms avoid conditions conducive to dangerous heat stress.'

This makes clear why coal and gas is unloved while renewables are booming in Australia (and the world):

Australia's main electricity grid, the NEM, will soon have 40GW/113GWh of storage (not including Snowy2.0).
That's enough storage to power the grid for about 4.5hrs at average demand of ~25GW.

Those of you who follow my weekly renewable simulations will know that it assumes 24GW/120GWh of storage, and is running at 98.5% renewable over the last 4+ years.

Thus, within just a handful of years, the NEM will have enough storage to achieve ~98% renewable supply.

Batteries soaking up excess solar and pushing out peaking gas overnight, then dumping the left over, before the sun comes up, to start over again.

There has been a run in recent days of batteries supplying more electricity than gas. From 24 Dec to 2nd of January.

The biggest oil exporter on Earth is building massive solar farms and battery grids. Not because they’re green — because it’s cheaper, faster, and smarter. They power themselves with sunlight and sell the oil to you. Mock clean energy all you like — you’re the product funding it. #EVs #Solar #BESS

No need to continually truck fuel over thousands of kilometres anymore for these fillup sites - these are from sunlight direct to EVs as photos of some of the remote EV charging spots across remote Australia show:
