New England moving toward legalizing plug-in/balcony solar

All 6 states- even New Hampshire- have legislation in process. Maine's could be signed into law next week.

Electricity is expensive in New England by US standards and prices are rising, like everywhere (thanks, 🍊)

Momentum is building on this!

Balcony solar bills make inroads across New England

Energy affordability woes are pushing all six states to advance legislation allowing DIY, plug-in solar panels. A bill is even nearing the governor’s desk…

I have a question about plug in solar panels 🙋‍♀️

Looking the ones available in Europe, the idea seems to be solar panels -> micro inverter-> plug into wall.

I feel like I’m missing something fundamental about household circuits. Why / how does plugging a power source into a normal plug socket work? And second question, would it work the same in the UK?

@lindarosesmit @nickofnz there's no such thing as free or free from impact except death. Everything is a trade-off unless you wish to cease to exist.
I put a lot of money and time in to the core of my setup 10 years ago, which is solar, batteries and inverter. Since then I have tweaked and improved things, most notably my batteries. Initially I was using retired ex-telecom lead-acid batteries. Now I am using a reconfigured battery from my Nissan leaf (after I upgraded the car's battery) and an ex forklift battery which I rescued from the scrap yard.
@cobalt123 @mloxton These are a sad combination of words, “unbelievably cost prohibitive in sunny Phoenix, Arizona.” The fossil fuel industry has spent years making it unbelievably cost prohibitive. Leave them a solar panel at a time.

I have reached the end of the first phase of shifting load to solar power.

All the household rechargeable devices - phones, tablets, headphones, and the big cordless tool batteries for snow blower, leaf blower, drills, drivers, etc, are now 100% replenished using the 500W solar panel

Next step is rigging the furnace blower to run from the solar "generator", making witing changes, and adding 800W of permanent solar panels
