When Leonard Nimoy died eight years ago, Lorna's Laces reissued an earlier limited issue yarn that includes all the colors of ST:TOS uniforms. As a Spock fan since 1968, it took a year for me to figure out what to make with this yarn, and here is the result. It's called Star Trekking. I'm posting this scarf today on his yahrzeit, because his memory IS for a blessing.

Pattern: Strandwanderer
Yarn: Lorna's Laces Shepherd's Sock Multi, colorway Live Long and Prosper

We rehomed Buster at the end of December and has been a labour in itself:

8 yrs old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
Since 30th he's had all his teeth out, has had a major hernia operation, castrated, ECG, Xray and ultrasound to discover he has upper B2 stage heart disease- ie if we didn't act swiftly he'd be in heart failure.

He's already had one fainting episode when he escaped the lead and ran like Billy o. Luckily he lives to tell the tale.

Been a bit quiet as been decorating a new crafting space and then really enjoying it.

Today’s poem is in celebration of #WorldRadioDay and is called ‘Tuning the Dial’.

A poisoned town and now some of the chemicals are coming down the Ohio River, right past my house. Our city gets its water from the river. It will be diluted before it gets here, I doubt they turn off the intake valves.

Still, there will be traces of these chemicals and many others forever in the river sediment. Eventually, it reaches the Gulf along with fertilizer runoff to the ever-expanding dead zone which not too long ago was a shrimper's paradise.

There were more toxic chemicals on train that derailed in Ohio than originally reported, data shows

Among the substances were ethylene glycol monobutyl ether and isobutylene.

Next time you're using one of those soggy paper straws, remember that over 200 private jets took off immediately after the Super Bowl. That's the same carbon emission as 3,000 commercial fights.* Private jets should be illegal. Every celebrity who flies in one knows exactly what they're doing, and doesn't give two shakes.
