Black people are up to 48 times more likely than whites to be stopped and searched by police in wealthier parts of London, research suggests.

Reacting, Green London Assembly Member, Zoë Garbett, told My London:

The Mayor has called stop and search a ‘vital policing tool,’ despite its disproportionate targeting of Black Londoners, which makes him part of the problem by assuming that stop and search is an inevitable aspect of policing…

Constituents and community groups I’ve spoken to describe stop and search as an invasive and degrading tactic and they say it causes real and long-lasting harm that undermines trust and confidence in the police.

Mothin Ali - on point as ever. It is humbling to see that a community gardener from Gipton & Harehills holds more integrity in his little finger than the entire Westminster political Elite.

> Muslim voices speaking about war in the Middle East are treated not as participants in democratic debate but as suspects within it. Our motives are interrogated, our loyalties questioned, and our words interpreted through a presumption of bad faith.

My critics want silence – but advocating for peace is what democracy demands

A week ago, I attended the apolitical Stop The War Coalition protest in Parliament Square alongside hundreds of fellow protesters. Since then,…

Bands get together to support a Hope, Love and Unity Rally

Stroud bands and DJs will play at the Locking Hill Studio on the Slad Road on the 7th March to support a unity rally in London organised by the Together Alliance.

The Stroud event has been arranged by Stroud Love Music Hate Racism and will feature electro duo Wooolheads, the spanish guitar inspired Flamenco Thief, psych band Careful Spider, Kaboozle playing Afro-Brazilian vibes, a special live DJ set with WizardTree mixing original compositions and DJs Scaro-B and Global Beats.

Organiser Jagdish Patel said:
> The event has a 1980s Rock Aganst Racism vibe to it when musicians responded positively to the hate and division promoted on the streets by the National Front. By bringing people together, to dance together, to enjoy music together, the aim of the event is to promote unity and harmony

There will also be an opportunity to purchase coach tickets for the London Together Alliance rally on the 28th March. Under 25s and low income will be eligible for discounted tickets if purchased at the gig. The event starts at 7pm to late and entry will be on a pay as you feel basis starting at £5. My Grandfather fought in WW2 and was at the liberation of Bergen‑Belsen. These and other atrocities were key drivers behind the post WW2 surge in international legal instruments; accelerating and deepening rules governing war, human rights, and individual accountability.

Isn’t it an absolute disgrace and deeply troubling that some prominent elected representatives and other grifters feel it is politically expedient to suggest jettisoning these enduring principles?

Preserving International Law honours the memory of all those who suffered in conflicts past and ensures that future generations are better protected.

Gloucestershire Police & Crime Panel - 2nd February 2026

The Panel didn’t just wave the budget through. We attached recommendations and wanted regular work-stream updates relating to ICT, Estates and New Operating model. The panel also wanted info on preventative work to tackle inequity surrounding stop and search, use of force with genuine community engagement to improve trust in policing.

Green Party leader Zack Polanski responds to Palestine Action ruling

The court has ruled that the government’s authoritarian ban on Palestine Action was unlawful. Now it is time for the government to stop criminalising the people protesting a genocide – and start ending the UK’s complicity.

Over 2,700 people have so far been arrested for holding a sign opposing genocide and the proscription of Palestine Action. Those already charged should have those charges dropped, and the Crown Prosecution should discontinue action against all those arrested.
