So it needs an iron, it only has one pocket because of the side zip and the lettering on the butt bit didn't really come out as clear I would like. However I now declare, what I'm calling the Shimoda skirt, done.

New Blog Post: Executive Function Theft

In which I seek to name something I keep encountering...

Executive Function Theft

The phrase arrived in my head so completely formed and concrete that I couldn’t believe it wasn’t already established in the lexicon, but at least preliminary searches suggest it is not…

#ClimateChange -driven disruptions are going to challenge the state structure in a few important ways:

- People are going to move to new places, away from the worst-hit places to also-hit places that already have few resources to address the needs of people who already live there.

- A lot of them are going to be hungry, thirsty, hot, and angry.

- Investment in future economic activity will be worth less as climate becomes less predictable, especially in places that already depend heavily on agriculture and pastoralism for most incomes. Elites will be a lot more focused on grabbing whatever they can, now, than in investing in the public to extract more later.

- Expectations will be thwarted more rapidly. Anyone expecting that *this* coup will be the one that finally fixes the mess of the last administration will rapidly become disillusioned, so surely the *next* coup will follow in short order.

The old state system that the world has taken for granted as an a priori obvious fixture of the global stage is already fatally broken across the Sahel and the Levant into Iraq. Mexico and Central America are in bad shape. Judging from climate models, the Indian subcontinent should be next.

#strangenewworlds the first song was great. a lot of the songs could have lost the middle, and the autotune and electronic drumset was way too much for a lot of the songs. Spock especially. i would have liked it a lot more if they trimmed down the songs a bit! ambitious though, and I appreciate that.
Uplifting message from the car park machine today

Watched the #StarTrek #StrangeNewWorlds musical episode tonight - I kind of hated it tbh. Actors did a great job - that's a hard thing to pull off what they all did; however, it was by far my least favorite #SNW episode. I think it also tipped the S2 scale to a direction where most of the cohesion/balance that S1 had has been replaced patchwork of inconsistent tone/direction. It's a shame because they had a near perfect "out there" episode just 2 weeks ago.

I'm glad others enjoyed it though.
