Just some security guy.

scared I'll accidentally say "tw**t" on here like a Christian at an agnostic dinner party
Hey #infosec people. If this is your weekend, take some time to do other things. Step away, knit, play with trains, go see a movie, whatever.
Burnout sucks, and we like you and want you around.

Ugh. Houses in my neighborhood already have their Christmas lights on, and this store is blaring “Let it snow”. Are you kidding me?! It’s 55 degrees outside and the weather is far from frightful!

In just a very short time I feel more connected to the #infosec community than I ever did on that other site

#Mastodon feels like the least toxic #socialmedia platform in a very long time

It's so refreshing to see insight from people who were active but algorithms kept me from seeing

Dear @infosec.exchange,

Please vote no on the upcoming (ISC)² by-laws if you haven't already!

@conrad made a great post about this on that other site so please make sure you vote no!

Need some input from all you #infosec tooters this morning:

I put on a training for our junior analysts every month covering something they've requested, or something outside of the normal comfort zone to expand their view of security. They currently do analysis of customer logs (Network, Host, EDR), basic SOC as a service type stuff.

Two months ago this was setting up Wireshark and breaking down the basics of packet analysis.

Last month this was walking them through how to use #SecurityOnion to work through one of the exercises from my buddy @malware_traffic .

So, I am looking for some suggestions on a training for this month that can run roughly 40 minutes that might be something these youngins haven't experienced that might spark their interest.

Bonus points if this can be performed in a lab environment to let them eventually build it out themselves and run with it.

YOU GUYS I FOUND THE TOOT BUS
Tinkering with #homeassistant is one of those things where you have a cute little idea after dinner and all the sudden it’s 1am and I don’t even remember what I originally wanted to do
My thoughts on Mastadon so far:
Compared to birdsite, the interactions feel more personal. Everyone has been really welcoming, it almost feels like the first day of school where everyone is actively getting to know each other. Maybe it’s because a ton of us just arrived together?

yo, if you can, it’s a warm neighborly thing to do to donate some $$$ to help with the costs of this server that @jerry so graciously hosts us all on
