Posting our lab life & science studying chromatin organization, polarity signaling and cytoskeleton in migration during neuronal differentiation.

I ❤️ cool microscopes🔬and the image analysis pipelines needed to get biological insights from the data.

Here’s the video with the sound 🙃
Had an awesome walk at the Levada do Moinho in #PontadoSol Such an amazing combo of sights and sounds. All of these mountain paths have a levada, which carries water to farms and towns. Sound on to hear the zen of the burbling water 🎧 #NatureWalk #HikingAdventures #TrailBlazing #OutdoorLife #tuesdaymotivation
Visiting the Ilha do Pico in the #Azores for the first time. So cool how Mount #Pico gets its cloudy shroud at dusk….watch the entire 30 sec video to see the mesmerizing transformation from fiery sunset to a mystical, cloud-covered night! 🌄🌌 #NatureLovers #TimelapseMagic #mondayvibes #MondayMotivation #TravelInspiration #hiddengem #IlhadoPico

🌟 Pre-vacation #MicroscopyMonday magic rendered by @Daniel_Stabley! 🌟 This is a showstopper: our top plasma membrane probes light up neurons and glia. But wait, there's more! The grand finale? A lattice light sheet stunner showing off its isotropic prowess in the XZ view. Confocal 3D rotations, eat your heart out! 🧠🔬✨ #Neuroscience #MicroscopyMagic #NextLevelImaging #cellbio #cellfie #scicomm #neuroscience #Microscopy
This was a TOUGH nut: 4 submissions of this grant. 1st = 51st Percentile, 2nd = 12th Percentile (but not funded 😱), 3rd = 18th Percentile.....now 2nd. Get up after getting knocked down, preserve your resources, grind it out, answer reviewer comments to refine, and, hopefully, it will come.

Sometimes I have to preoccupy myself with stupid shit to get my mind off the stupid shit that I have to do…

Btw, I love ChatGPT

Hello Tooters!

By way of introduction, I'm a science communicator. I hate the job title, but love the work. I have many interests, and will probably bring them all up at some point or another.

I've got a PhD in molecular, cellular, & Integrative Physiology. Since before graduate school I've hosted the This Week in Science (TWIS) science news talk show. I also help run the Association of Science Communicators & the Science Talk conference.

Let's be excellent to each other.

@Katma Sounds like a dream meeting. If all meetings incorporated this philosophy and a detailed meeting agenda ahead of time, the world would be a better place.
@Katma OMG Jello with olives, lettuce, and tomatoes is a pretty heinous combo 🤢 All it needs are maraschino cherries adorning the top 😂
