UPDATE: We've voted to delete the  emoji. It's been deleted because it's confusing and we've had people pretend to be real verified people from twitter.
@RenoirDana My teen daughter is autistic and I find so much value in posts that actuallyautistic people share. These posts help me understand and navigate all sorts of stuff. No need for a content warning from my perspective.

IMO the following is an interesting. insightful view of the the way in which many of the actions of those from Trump to Elon to Putin are driven by resentment.

Elon. Trump. Resentment.

A combination more powerful than one might think

@wileyfuller money is part of it, a big part of it, but there are other ideological undercurrents at play. It’s complex and expensive and works well if you are well insured. There a some parts, like access to specialists, that seem to work better than Australia. But without financial resources I believe it be bleak. It’s not a system for the people.
@wileyfuller and Medicare (US) seems to sort of work okay for the over 65. I’ve had plenty of conversations with people against socialised medicine but all for Medicare. It’s a perplexing country.
@Lukas perfect analogy.
Mastodon… three initial thoughts
1. The original inhabitants are very hospitable. I worry we the bird app people are a pack of marauding tourists ruining their internet paradise. Apologies in advance.
2. Self selecting twitter refugees are a fine, diverse bunch. It’s an interesting social filter.
3. I’m looking forward to exploring interests that were just too damn hard to pursue on Twitter due to trolls, haters and such.
An example of #moderation: I got some hate from a troll tonight (from another instance), and judging by the report, he hit a number of other people on mastodon.social. Reported him, and he’s now blocked from all of mastodon.social. All those other people he hit didn’t have to report/block him one by one. Please, always report a bad actor before blocking them. Moderators here actually do their jobs.
@edgeoforever @jayrosen_nyu I was going to paste the same snippet. Excellent summary.
