Just another Linux hacker

Constantly struggling to hide my affection of hacker subculture and memes behind the veil of corporate professionalism.
Father of 2, master of none.

Interested in #MotorSport, #F1, #VintageCars, #VideoGames, #InfoSec, #OpenHAB, #HomeAutomation, #Linux, #OSS.

Thoughts and opinions are my own.
I am not a bot (that I'm aware of).

Help request. My brother has Stage 4 colorectal cancer.

His life insurance has refused to pay out on a technicality, meaning he and his loved ones cannot afford the mortgage on their home.

I've never asked for anything in return for infosec stuff, but if you have anything spare, please chuck it this direction instead:

Just a simple #Fact for #Today and, in fact, any other day. 🤣

#Memes #Microsoft #MicrosoftTeams #Windows

people forget how influential Palm webOS was. lots of modern iOS uses similar patterns.

palm was basically the OpenAI of their time. such talent density that Steve Jobs had to threaten them to stop poaching.

• horizontal app card multitasking w/ flick up to quit
• edge swipe gesture nav for back nav and quick app switching
• swipe away banner notifications
• swipe down system tray (like Control Center)
• "Just type..." global search bar
• threaded messaging
• magnetic charging puck

the experience of compiling something via command line on a terminal and watching the logs fly by is miles ahead of the experience of progress bar on a IDE. The end result is the same but it looks cool while waiting!
Turns out there's a technical reason why the Switch 2 has those gaps between the joycons and the console. Always learning.

Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction
Sorcerer of death's construction
In the fields the bodies burning
As the war machine keeps turning"

The street that my mum lives in is a one-way street, but wasn't marked as such on #Google Maps. This caused many drivers to drive the wrong way. I have tried to edit it on Google Maps (there is such functionality), but to no avail. No matter how often I submitted a change (with photos of street signs!), Google said "Sorry, we could not verify it".

Solution: Edit the street on #OpenStreetMap! A few months after I did this, Google seems to have stolen the data, as it regularly does, and now the street is correct in both datasets!

@djlink
So true, and even better when using coolretroterm ^_^
@ZikZak how lightweight is it on day to day? I'm using cmder, which is not as pretty but very fast

@djlink
Well, I'm an xterm user :)
Cool-retro-term is nice and I used it only for fun to replicate an amber screen.
In the end I prefer to really go lowtech with what exists today.

xterm or aterm is all I need.

Never heard of cmder before, let's see.

@djlink
Oh I see, that's a MS windows application.
Looks a lot like what you'd get under linux with xterm or urxvt

@djlink PSA: the easiest way to spot an imitation Hackerman, is no Power Glove.
