Unpopular opinion: we should normalize black people coming to Mastodon, being safe and speaking their minds.
They might talk about internal discomfort and biases we might hold.
It's not their responsibility to educate us. It's our responsibility to create a place where black people are accepted.
I was looking at the news this morning and I think it's the perfect time to bring this up.
@mattwigway @DrTCombs where I live the hills are unavoidable! Getting an e-cargo #bakfiets helps, though with a full load I will still seek out less steep routes. Also the battery charge capacity nudges one toward flatter routes even if the distance is greater. Riding uphill in high power mode is a complete power drain.

@nathaniel was part of a research project some years back looking at the #soundscape in and around the Colosseum. Traffic noise was seen as big threat to the #Heritage #Soundscape and the visitor experience and - along with congestion and pollution damage - was a factor behind closure of perimeter roads to traffic from… I think…2013.
Have not been back since but would like to. (I threw a euro over my shoulder into the Trevi Fountain - so I suppose I have to really…)
