Ok, this is kind of cool in a depressing way.

"These ‘warming stripe’ graphics are visual representations of the change in temperature as measured in each country, region or city over the past 100+ years. Each stripe or bar represents the temperature in that country, region or city averaged over a year. The stripes typically start around the year 1900 and finish in 2024, but for many countries, regions and cities the stripes start in the 19th century or sometimes even the 18th century. "

I may have to knit a scarf to match.

Visualising how the climate has changed for every country across the globe

Rep. Johnson tells Kari Lake that by silencing the Voice of America, she is "ceding America's role in the world to the Chinese," calling this "unconscionable."

Look, it's simple. We all want to be safe. We all want to not be hungry. We all want to be warm. We all want to be comfortable.

It's just that some of us also want this for others, and not just ourselves.

We are posting this placard at all of our offices and asking our union contract farms to post as well.

We encourage our friends to put up similar placards at their business as immigration agents do not have the right to go on private property without permission.

Here you can kind of see how a hummingbird’s wings don’t move in just an up-and-down plane but more of a figure 8. This was at 1/1250 shutter and there’s still blur. But surprisingly simple to photograph because of how stable they are at full speed hovering.

@Jgbird I was watching one that was hovering by me, it looked like it had two sets of wings
@sunumbral if we discovered some secret extra set of wings, I wouldn’t even be that surprised
@Jgbird Just moving something back and forth is incredibly stressful on it and not very efficient. Insect wings move in circles too. Which is why Villneuve's take on the ornithopters in Dune was so stupid.
@Jgbird Lovely...pollen on the bill, great detail around the eye.

@Jgbird

Wonderful! I watch them almost every night on my feeders. They are so playful and so fast they seem to be visitors from another space-time continuum!
