Appreciator of the little things in life.

Mid-Cymru.

I was @ outfoxgloved on that other site - I forget its name - posting about being a late-identified autistic woman and the trials and joys of seeing the world a little differently.

I haven’t decided who I’ll be here yet, but I suspect it might still be me.

Oer ond anhygoel.

It was -8C here yesterday morning - the coldest it’s been since we moved here. The mountains are covered in snow and the ground is an ice rink, but it’s that view that takes my breath away #snow #mountains #cymru

A dramatic lightning and hail storm this afternoon left us with no electricity for a few hours. I can’t say I minded too much. My chandelier candelabra seemed like a daft purchase when I bought it a decade ago, but it’s come into its own more than once over the years.

Wales by night is a cosy place to be despite the weather. Fire lit, soft light, peaceful evening. Heddwch.

#BoreDa pawb! What a glorious morning it is. Autumn has finally arrived. It’s not a terrible view to wake up to every morning.

Dw i’n gweithio ar fy hyder yn ysgrifennu yn y #Gymraeg. Does dim byd yn mynd i newid heb taflu fy hunain mewn i’r bwrlwm.

And that sentence with my English autocorrect:
Dwarf I’m gweithio are fy hydrogen yn ysgrifennu yn y gym raw. Doesn’t dime budget until my dad I newish Henry tagliatelle fy hunting means i’r barley

Thanks for your help #autocorrect

This is the latest in the year that I have ever gone #sea swimming. I’ve always been a fair weather swimmer.

I am usually a reluctant Welsh-writer, because I know it’s imperfect, but i’m trying to lose that fear. Roedd y dŵr yn oer, y gwynt yn gryf, a’r teimlad yn anhygoel.

My legs felt like a thousand needles prickled them as I got in, but there is nothing like it for bringing you into the moment. It was glorious, bendigedig, perffaith, perfection.

I’m deeply sorry everyone, I tried to hold back for as long as I could, but it’s begun.

I’ve started making an unnecessary number of stars. Every year it gets a little earlier, so be grateful it’s actually Winter.

I haven’t gone so far as to actually start Christmas shopping yet, I’m glad to say, but it’s only a matter of time.

My Great-Great Uncle Basil was born with curvature of the spine and was refused when he tried to sign up to join the First World War.

So he travelled to the Western Front and used his own car to ferry the injured to medical care and generally made himself useful. One day he persuaded an Officer to let him go up in a plane to see what the enemy were doing; they were so impressed by the maps he drew that they gave him a commission.

If you look very closely you’ll find at the end of a Welsh rainbow, is a herd of Welsh Black Cattle. Real treasure 😁

We were due a rainbow after the 40 days and 40 nights of rain we’ve had. The weather is somewhat biblical.

Here’s hoping for bluer skies to come.

Bore da pawb! Good morning everyone. The rain is hammering down here again, so I’m remembering this brief moment of sun last Friday.

I am so lucky to live in this glorious piece of Cymru. Even when the weather is torrential. #tuesday #morning #viewfromtheoffice

I never used to share my #crafty things on the birdie site, but I feel like I can here.

Making things makes me happy. I’ll often end a hard day at work by wandering out to my workshop and seeing what I can pull together from some old offcuts.

This week I finally got around to making a table-top for an old drum we had lying around. It all started with a lot of glue and ended with a lot of sanding.

I then waxed it with a furniture wax I made out of some local beeswax #woodwork #mindfulness
