The Seine reopens to Paris swimmers for second summer.

Swimmers will for the second year be able to cool off at designated points along the Seine river in Paris this summer, authorities said Friday, as well as along the Marne river in the suburbs.

In Paris, the swimming season was to open at three official bathing sites on 4 July, the mayor’s office said.

Tidal Pool Swim

In Hermanus on Monday to collect our unsold paintings from an art gallery we decided a bit of tidal pool swimming was in order. We discovered Ficks Pool and decided that was the right thing to do.

The water was icy probably 16°C but still we swam and it was fun.

And I got caught by a wave!

We had coffee and a pizza in a restaurant overlooking the pool afterwards.

An upside is that there is a restaurant just above the pool that sells great coffee for an after swim warm up.

This weekend as part of the Great UK Waterblitz with co-members of the local Green Party the results of completed testings are showing Winchesters Itchen as having a poor water quality which for a place gifted with chalkstreams is a bit gutting.

I dont know what to say but too many years of austerity and refusals to commit to change have left us with this.

Time for change.. really, please consider forcing whichever MP you are stuck with until the general election, consider saturating your council with Green representatives and let's get started advocating for our waterways as well as our neighbourhoods.
