Iām seeing the right wing press (including the BBC š) emphasise that three #Yoorrook commissioners did not agree with the reportās key findings - and this seems to me a pretty blatant misreading of what the report in fact states, namely, that they ādid not approve of the inclusion of the key findings in the final reportā - that is, that while they did not support inclusion of the short list of key findings, there is absolutely nothing to suggest that except for pages 372-380 they do not stand behind EVERYTHING in the report as well as the interim reports, which includes all the evidence and reasoning supporting these ākey findingsā but also MUCH MORE.
They stand behind the reportās account of genocide. They stand behind the reportās account of historical and continued injustice. They stand behind all the reportās recommendations for redress, for reform, for self-determination and treaty (pp 394-432).
It is a pity that this situation has allowed to become blown up by bad faith actors as a distraction from the reportās findings of theft, illegality, and genocide, but to suggest the three commissioners disagreed with any of the ākey findingsā is simply not justified by the language in the report itself. #Australia
