I don't like to use the terms "fey", "faeries", etc. when discussing German folklore - those terms create too many associations with British, Irish, and Celtic mythology which might not apply here.
If I have to talk in large categories instead of using more specific terms such as dwarves, nixies, Venetians, kobolds, etc., I prefer to use the more neutral term "spirits".
