#LongCovid since March 2020 🦠
Used to do things and travel, now I rest and sleep 😷

So, if #COVID19 is over, why has it killed 6x more than the flu the past year? (https://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/index.htm)

Or killed almost 2.5x more people than guns (both suicide and homicides) in the US?

Or killed 3x more than traffic fatalities in the US?

Maybe someone needs to inform me of alternative definitions of the word “over.”

(Smoking kills about 4x more than COVID, but unlike COVID, we don't just ignore the risks--we ban smoking in businesses and protect people from 2nd-hand smoke.)

For covid long-haulers, the pandemic is far from over

The end of the coronavirus public health emergency has left long-covid patients fearful they will be forgotten.

Third COVID-19 outbreak in three weeks declared at Burnaby Hospital

Fraser Health declared another outbreak on May 11.

As the one person who masks in a 30+ people office; the one person who uses a Corsi-Rosenthal box while at the office, the one who gets all the "she's paranoid" looks and the utter lack of compassion and empathy at work...

When everyone from the White House to the CDC to the media repeat the "the pandemic is over" lie...

The gaslighting by the public health organizations that should give the first fuck and don't is fucking exhausting.

Because I’m seeing toxic positivity floating around lately….

It’s okay to be sad. It’s okay to be anxious, frustrated, depressed, bummed, or even entirely sickened by the state of the world. It’s okay to feel a visceral need to howl in the face of injustice. It’s okay to grieve and worry and weep.

Those feelings are as much a part of life as happiness.

Ignore anyone who tries to shame you by calling you “negative.” You are a human, not a highlight reel.

I made a 6 hour return trip to see a dentist who is taking extensive Covid precautions. Found the dentist on CovidSafeDentist.ca wondering if there are other sites that lost Covid safe healthcare providers or businesses in #Canada. #Covid #CovidIsNotOver #COVIDisAirborne

A simple but important lesson in statistics from a mathematics professor:

1% of #Covid19 cases resulting in death DOES NOT mean that you have a 1% chance of dying.

Your personal risk depends on your vaccination status, masking, immune system, demographic group, community prevalence and other factors.

If 1% of COVID-19 cases result in death, does that mean you have a 1% chance of dying if you catch it? A mathematician explains the difference between a population statistic and your personal risk

It’s not entirely accurate to say that you’re more likely to die in a car accident than in a plane crash. Chances are, you’re not the average person.
