@markpeplow @richvn I wonder if the eminent prof, used to receiving glowing coverage, has recently received less than glowing coverage thanks to some of his recent work (cough covid cough)...

20+ years ago, as an impressionable high school student, I got to visit the telescope at Apache Point, New Mexico, that conducts the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. Today, astronomers at Johns Hopkins released a cosmic map based on 20 years of SDSS data and it is STUNNING. 200k galaxies, each one represented by a single dot on the map!

@statto @CurlyArrow Oddly enough, I don't think I've ever been to the Black Country museum!
@sellathechemist We've signed up to get a load of panels (nice big south-facing roof TYVM) and batteries, probably installed in the new year. But I'll be interested to follow your ongoing heat pump experience.
Did you know that Ireland had one of the first battery powered trains? The Drumm Nickel-Zinc battery train ran from Dublin to Bray (1931 - 1949), it recharged at stations as passengers got on/off using "excess" electricity from the newly built Ardnascrusha hydropower station. Iโ€™ve been using this as an intro to my Teacher CPD workshops this year and most never knew this #IrishHistory #ScienceWeek #edchatie https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=p9jFA3fKG6c&ab_channel=BritishPath%C3%A9

@MOFsoton Very jealous of that - I'm still soggy from my damp cyclocommute...!
@statto Whaaaaaaaat?? It's awesome - and free (which as someone who lives nearby to ยฃยฃยฃ Duxford is a big bonus).

@CurlyArrow @statto Team 'Infinite Trips Ironbridge as a Kid' unite! I might have known it was orange now though, I may have been recently.

Now, how many times did you go to Cosford on school trips??
