I love to tell inspiring stories through photos from the intersections of #science and #naturewriting, #culturalheritage and #art! With my dog Bilbo I live in the #naturepark of #VosgesDuNord in #France. He is my inspirational manager for #nature!
Since my work for the podcast #NatureMatchCuts, my #art is changing, #inspired by #nature.
"When #frogs dream, #lichens laugh."
Title of my new #mixedmedia #assemblage with real lichens, #paperart, #fabric and #wildstitching aka #embroidery. #china #frog #AtelierTetebrec

I am a very impatient person. At some point, I discovered old votives with #French #perlage #flowers in our #museum magazine. And I wanted to copy them. I took countless photos, tried construction drawings, practised, and cursed. Then I was too impatient to imitate something and designed it freely. I think that I am still an impatient person ... #brooches #art #artjewellery #glassbeads #beads #beadembroidery #FrenchBeading #artsandcrafts #Flowers #AtelierTetebrec #paperart #naturejewelry #handmadejewelry #culturalheritage #beading
Thanks! Yes, that's a good idea! Here I just collected what I have. I make this for feeling the structures and colours. Later I work also with gesso, scratching and more.
The moth is a photo of Elophila nymphaeata in false colours. The moth is white with a golden-brown pattern, depending on the light, it shimmers bluish, but not so much.
Thank you!
It gives a very special connection to me, because every place gives me memories.
You are welcome!
Create a #connection to the #ground. Did you know that you can #paint with #soil or #rock? Even if you don't grind these natural #pigments finely (like here), they can be turned into paint with simple solvents. In the 2nd photo, you can see the differences: I diluted it with water or white glue. You can experiment with oils or egg yolk. Not all #pigments are lightfast. The ones mixed with water look the most #natural but are not very durable. What I like about unground #earth pigments is that their #structure can be felt.

I have also experimented with unusual things here: #Crude #oil that comes out of the earth when it rains or #earthworm poop. The #ochre comes from a medieval #quarry. Experiment with how your #soils look #painted, you only need a little!

#Workinprocess: How do I work on an #assemblagecollage?
My main object here is the lid of an old #oil bottle from #Shell of special origin. It comes from the #waste dump of a more than 100-year-old #oilmine, which is only now being partly overgrown by pioneer plants.

That's why I wanted to work on this contrast between supposedly intact #nature and the #damage caused by #fossilfuels. Seeming #beauty: the #blue of burnt #plasticwaste (like a stone), #plastic string found in a meadow, #sari #waste from the #fashionindustry.

The last time I saw this beautiful #butterfly and #moth was in my childhood. They are now #extinct in our region. The #beetle has also disappeared, cut out.

I check the composition in a different light (1+2), and with photos. My way of working out this composition in #mixedmedia is inspired by the wonderful #book "#Storytelling With #Collage" by the inspiring #artist Roxanne Evans Stout.
