#book #nerd and #gaming #geek,
co-host of The Miskatonic University Podcast where we talk about #horror and #weird #ttrpg & I'm a winner of a Gold and a Silver #ENnie.

I am a huge #history guy, #medieval some but #Stuart or #Tudor more-so. And I'm constantly learning #latin and #Deutsch.

I'm infatuated with #libraries and #shelfies, and #reading. I typically finish over 100 books per year.

I was able to see #PinkMartini last night in Lufkin of all places. It was an absolute blast!

You know it is a banger when the footnotes exceed the main text on the page.

A nice White Lady to end the weekend.

"Scientific Facts about the #BlackDeath" is a fascinating article on Medievalists.

At the start of the pandemic I started #reading a whole bunch of plague and pandemic related books. Here are some of my favorite #reads from then.

The Demon in the Freezer is my fav by far. But The American plague was a brilliant history of Yellow Fever that I was wholly unaware. Both were page turners.

A couple of #alcohol induced #books purchases from last week.

I'm 8 chapters into CL Clark's engrossing fantasy political novel that is equal parts #Malazan or #BlackCompany mixed with any #Dumas adventure.

I'm not far enough in to make a more thorough determination, but so far it is a great read.

I finished Abir Mukherjee's fantastic debut novel, A Rising Man, a few days ago. Set in Calcutta during one of the more turbulent times in British Imperial history, the novel follows Sam Wyndham newly transferred MET officer after he became disillusioned with life following his harrowing experience in WWI.

Beautifully written and always able to keep me on the edge of my seat, this was a wonderful book that sucked me in from the start. Highly recommend.

I'm #reading A Rising Man by Mukherjee whose story begins on April 9th, 1919, which is only a few days prior to the Amritsar Massacre that happened on the 13th.

I don't know for sure that it's in the book, but surely it must be. And surely, the mentioning of dates at the start of each day is a low-key way to ramp up the tension I'm experiencing knowing that one of the most blatant atrocities of British Imperialism in the 20th Century is just 2 days away in the novel.

This Queen's Park Hotel Super Cocktail is just fantastic. I know Negronis are all the rage, but this is hard to beat for me.
