@Elanis Thanks for the recommendations. I'll check out "GameDiscoverCo and How to Market a Game Newsletter." I've already started reading.
@Elanis So, in your case, publishing in narrow communities, I'm guessing Reddit, was probably key. Because Steam itself doesn't seem to promote games from new developers without an external user base.
@Elanis Wow, I must say, that's an excellent conversion rate.
1000/(400+1.8k wishlists) = 45%.
What channels did you use to acquire these 400 and 1.8k wishlists? What was effective, and what wasn't? I'm trying to figure out how this marketing works, and frankly, I don't really understand it yet. My engineering mind tells me there must be patterns...
@Elanis Oh, that's an interesting result. Thanks for sharing your experience. Could you please share more details about how you managed to get your first 1,000 sales? What did you do for this?
@fciv The freecivx project looks interesting. Are the client and server based on some other project?
@vivaladev Hi, it's good that you don't give up and continue working on your project! This is worthy of respect. I looked at your descriptions, screenshots and videos, the graphics are nice, but I still don’t understand what the key features of your game are? How is it different from many other strategy and TBS games? Why would a player want to play yours and not some other? That's what's missing.

I watched the video of your procedural generator, and I'm absolutely blown away. It solves the content problem for indie developers when they need to quickly build a game world. Someday, when my project grows to 3D, I would like to use such great solutions.

@foxtriogames

Well, if I were to resume work on my old 2D sandbox artillery project... I'd add periodic torrential rains with water physics like this, so you'd have to climb to higher ground or boats to escape the flood. :)
