Am aspiring indie writer, and escaped techbro, who brought back a very simple but useful piece of tech:
Markdown.
It's a plain text format, with minimal markup for things like chapter headings and italics. I write my books in it, and also keep my notes in it.
I use Pandoc software to render the Markdown as ebook EPUB and paperback PDF.
I had to write a little code to get Pandoc to do exactly what I wanted. The defaults are opinionated.
Just got paid for my first ever print book sale, in October.
It's a smutty friends-to-lovers romance about roommates. So if every roommate buys a copy for their roommate, as a 'joke' Christmas gift, the royalties will add up.
#BookWyrm seems to be so non-corporate, that I couldn't add a link to Amazon in the official "how to get it" place of the book page. I love it.
