Day 25: With a busy schedule today, I just had time for a grocery store run. The closest one is 3 miles away, but 2 of those miles are on a trail through the woods by Bear Creek, so it's safe and enjoyable. With another snowy morning, I took my Fatboy #bicycle and my #BurleyNomad trailer. With a 16 pound Thanksgiving turkey, it was probably the heaviest load I've ever pulled. #cycling #BikeLeans #BikeTooter
Day 24: A near repeat of yesterday except with the temperature closer to freezing the snow is partially melting on pavement, but not bridge decks. I took my Fatboy #bicycle out again and rode on the trails through the woods. The wet snow is better at flocking the trees. #BikeLeans #cycling #BikeTooter
Day 23: Snow! I mounted the studded tires on my Fatboy #bicycle and headed out into an early winter wonderland. The snow got heavier as I went along and I couldn't even see my previous tracks on the return trip. #BikeTooter #cycling #BikeLeans
Here is an example of either poor design or poor execution of a #CurbCut on a multiuse trail. The ramp portion of the cut should be as wide as the trail and oriented in the direction of travel. This bad one causes one to swerve closer to traffic and prevents two way traffic for anyone rolling through. #cycling #BicycleInfrastructure
Day 22: With the coming forecast of accumulating snow, I thought it best to install the #pogies (Bar Mitts) on my Fatboy #bicycle and give it a good checkout ride. The brakes needed adjustment and I'll be swapping to the studded tires as soon as the snow/ice warrants. I rode the Chester Woods Trail again. #BikeLeans #cycling
Day 21: After facilitating an all day seminar, I only had time for a quick spin around town on my #ebike before dark. But it would have been slippery this morning since we had our first dusting of snow, a year to the day since the first dusting of snow last year! There still is some residual snow on the downed trees. #BikeLeans #cycling
Day 20: Normally my #BikeLeans pix are more scenic, interesting or artistic. This one is of an advocacy victory, though. This is outside of Fleet Farm, a store that 5 days earlier did not have a bike rack and I lodged a complaint. So today I rode my #bicycle there again and they have a new one. Also I still can't believe it was a full 40 degrees colder this morning than when I rode yesterday. #cycling
It is Veterans Day here in the USA (Remembrance Day in Canada). It gives me the opportunity to remember my father who served in the US Army in WWII and was severely wounded in France in 1944. Blessings to all who remember their family members who served.
I am slowly getting better at my photography skills. My primary art form is #BikeLeans where I ride my #bicycle somewhere and frame a scene, object or landscape with my bike. Here is an example of two photos taken nearly a year apart on the same road. Which is better?
Day 19: With a volatile weather forecast and some scheduled appointments, I thought it best to go out early on my go-to-in-a-pinch #bicycle ride around Silver Lake. This may be the last time I wear bike shorts this year, 62 degrees and very windy. Temps will soon plummet, 30's tomorrow. I did spot a Bald Eagle in Slatterly Park. #cycling #climate
