This is the new account of the person who's handle used to be "UrquhartMP" on Twitter and then Mastodon.
On this day 46 years ago Mt. St. Helens in Washington State erupted blowing off half the mountain. The explosion shook the windows in my home in Canada over 500km away.
A small idea of the destruction can be seen in this photo taken three months later. This was about as far up the mountain as the public could get.
@tamewhale It's amazing they're still touring. There'd never been anything like it when they burst on the scene back then.
June 24, 1979. Before the Devo concert at the PNE Garden in #Vancouver. I have no idea who the couple in the picture are.
My band photos from that night are terrible. But this stands out. The vibe was incredible and the audience went nuts. Pointed Sticks opened.
