The story about the Chinese spy balloon over Montana is very odd - normally these pressurised stratospheric balloons are launched for circumpolar flights in the (normally) stable polar wind vortex. It would make much more sense if this was intended as an arctic observation system that then got carried south. If you wanted to spy on Montana satellites do a better job.
