LLMs are responsible for a lot of sins but let us not forget the harm it has caused the em-dash enthusiast community, of whom i consider myself a fellow

Compared to all other social media platforms, Mastodon has very few 1 mintues videos (like you see those on Insta, TikTok, X etc) in my feed or in the trending tab. It has more text based content, followed by images. Very interesting! I guess humans have always liked to read and write. There is no automated alog here just humans talking and boosting what is important to them. This is how social media should be instead of constant push of clickbait videos.

#mastodon

Does it feel like Mastodon has changed more in the last 6 months than it did in the previous 4 years?

That's because it has.. they've gotten more funding and more staff and more support and from what I can tell a morale boost from the internal team.

You love to see it. The future of Mastodon is very bright.

A surprise during a walk was this large moth, which we found for the first time a few days ago: the endangered Canadian Imperial Moth (Eacles pini)

On June 28, 1969, police raided the #StonewallInn, a New York City bar that welcomed the most marginalized members of the fledgling queer "community": young, poor, and #BIPOC #LGBTQ+ people.

Fed up with being on the receiving end of state violence, drag performers, trans and gender nonconforming people, homeless youth, and queer people of color fought back.

The scuffle became a weeklong riot and marked a pivotal turning point in the movement for LGBTQ+ rights in the United States.

@CaptainFlab

I'd like to point out that it was an actual riot. Heads were getting knocked in on both sides.

Power is never ceded voluntarily, it is only taken.

And rage against injustice is universal. The ability to strike back is not.

If you can, strike now. The country is at an inflection point. We need ya. Don't kill anybody. That's counterproductive.

Go make some good trouble. Raise some hell.

@Uair @CaptainFlab That night in NYC was hot as Hell, 90s and muggy. And Judy Garland had died just a week before, and she was like that era's Madonna or Lady Gaga, so queers were still mourning and were not in the mood to take any shit. I don't know how much difference that made for the riot happening, but it's a bit of context that usually gets missed.

Thanks for sharing.

I did not know.
