I'm an omnivore, but always trying to incorporate more vegetarian and vegan dishes and meals into my foody life.

I'm a nerdy science and data artist, and I run vis.social.

I felt the need for a space where I can talk about food, so I set up this instance.

While I'm still technically a Cancer patient, I'm in Remission and mostly doing great! I'm looking forward to be transferred out of the Oncology department and into the long term monitoring department.

Italian pasta imports could have super high Tariffs soon...like over %100?!!

So, now is a great time to search out local pasta makers. Both fresh and dried. Here in San Francisco, we have many sources of fresh pasta that is locally made. Of course, it doesn't keep as long as dried pasta. But we also have local dried pasta sources. One of my absolute favorites is made by Eduardo's (which has been recently bought by another company, but is still made locally).

I love trying new sauces and oils and such things...and I picked up this 'hot yuzu' sauce recently. I've been waiting to try it with something that it might be good with. We got take-out from our favorite local Chinese restaurant, and I thought their Lemon Chicken might be enhanced with this sauce.

I was right! It was so yummy that I wanted to keep eating, even after I was done. But I was too full to keep eating any more.

Thinking on what to try next.

Umm...yeah, so...I'm not a huge fan of turkey. And my kid whose home from college for this week? Not a fan of turkey, either.

So, we're planning on having a small spiral cut ham as our main protein this year.

We're focusing on spending time together, and cooking together, for each other.

And for that, I am so very thankful.

Having simple dinner tonight...cheese, crackers, and olives. For the olives, I warmed them up a bit and added a little olive oil and lemon zest. Simple and special. Yum.

Hey Fediverse! I'm looking for Food Banks to donate to that serve Albuquerque, NM and rural NM. Ideally, they have matching grant options so that I can encourage others to also give.

Hey! There is a huge and immediate need for cash donations to food banks across the country. If you're in the San Francisco Bay Area, the SFMarin Food Bank is a great place to donate and volunteer for: https://www.sfmfoodbank.org/ Even $10 or $20 can go a long way, because food banks can purchase food in bulk and at discounts.
