I started my hike along the Hadrians' Wall path yesterday. We covered 14 miles in warm, windy weather from Bowness On Solway to Carlisle. I enjoyed the great scenery and managed to ignore my sore feet! I found the headstone for my 4th great grandfather at St Michael's Church in Burgh by Sands. Walking in the footsteps of my ancestors...

I'm starting my Hadrian's Wall trek this weekend. I'm going to be walking in the footsteps of my ancestors as many of them lived in the villages along and around the wall, through Cumbria and Northumberland.
I think my kids are going to get a bit sick of mum diverting into every churchyard we pass 'just for a quick look.'

I visited the amazing Biscuit Factory in Newcastle today. There are so many talented artists on display there! This one by Emily Page struck a chord with me. It's titled Portrait of The Artist. The guy in the picture has a strong resemblance to my dad, who passed away twenty years ago.

The rare and intriguing Yarrow Stone in the Scottish Borders. Its inscription, displayed sideways, is early Christian and in Latin; and commemorates two princes named Nudoss and Dumnogenus, who lived and died in the 400s or 500s. I confess I haven't been on Mastodon much over the past couple of months. I'm not sure why. I signed up to threads yesterday, and while it is amusing to see the excitable activity over there, I couldn't find my to having a conversation with anyone... So I'm back

What is this witchcraft? Please tell me I'm not the only person who didn't know this. And it actually works!

Thanks to @Ask_aubry on the birdsite for this.
