@F4LUB @oh2cil The issue with the second hand market is, either no one wants to get rid of their kit because it's too good or it's so bad it's already broken and unsellable.
I expect Kenwood (Trio), ICOM, and Yaesu fall into the first category. I did sell my G90 but would not sell my FT1000MP, FT817, FT818, or FT2980. My 40-year old Trio 2m handheld, which was my first radio, is a bit off-frequency but retained for sentimental reasons.
"A cyclist is a disaster for the country's economy: he does not buy cars and does not borrow money to buy. He does not pay for insurance policies. He does not buy fuel, does not pay for the necessary maintenance and repairs. He does not use paid parking. He does not cause serious accidents. He does not require multi-lane highways. He does not get fat.
Healthy people are neither needed nor useful for the economy. They don't buy medicine. They do not go to hospitals or doctors. Nothing is added to the country's GDP (gross domestic product).
On the contrary, every new McDonald's restaurant creates at least 30 jobs: 10 cardiologists, 10 dentists, 10 dietary experts and nutritionists, and obviously, people who work at the restaurant itself."
Choose carefully: cyclist or McDonald's? It is worth considering.
P.S. Walking is even worse. Pedestrians don't even buy bicycles.
P.P.S. If you have read this far and still don't get it, this post is SATIRE. Reread it with this in mind.
@oh2cil @F4LUB Interesting feedback Marcus. It is disappointing when a good bit of kit is let down by build quality and reliability. I wonder if we will see as many Xiegus in the second hand market in 20+ years time as we do the big three.
@jamesb Just rained in #Cheltenham. Still hot though.
@F4LUB I used to have a G90, but found the screen to be too small to display clearly all the information. The screen on the X6100 looks wonderfully large.
@F4LUB A G90 and an X6100. Which is your preferred radio?
I discovered that there is a good amount of #2m #FM activity, early in the day, but it was all in established nets. No takers for my CQ calls, but maybe my use of the FT-817's helical antenna didn't help.
@jamesb Karaoke?
@IU1KGS No thanks. Almost as bad as karaoke.
In order to reduce the weight of kit I carry for portable operations, I have treated my FT-817 to a Windcamp battery.
I look forward to lighter weight when operating #QRP over the coming months.
