Where’s the best place to be? Why are folks on mastodon? Why are folks flocking to Bluesky?

Designers are being gaslighted into demonstrating impact, justifying value working just a little harder. My friends, we are being set up to fail in a giant, rotten system. Sara Wachter-Boettcher offers ways to reframe all of this, and stop beating ourselves up for failing to change something that it's not in our control.
Seeing her talk about this in Zurich resonated so much with me, I hope the article will resonate with you too.

Does Firefox not support the html5 link attribute of "download"? PDF links keep opening in a new tab, instead of downloading the PDF file like chrome & safari

<a href="pdf-file.pdf" download="NameofPDF.pdf">This PDF File [ PDF ]</a>.

Does Firefox depend on browser prefs for download and ignore download in the <a href...> ?

I'm looking into getting an android device so I can do #accessibility / #a11y testing on it. Do you have any recommendations on what I should get? (I've been stuck in the Apple eco system for most of my digital life.)
Just realised that I can use :has() to lock page scrolling under modals and menus without toggling classes with JS. Handy!
Blocking and swatching are the two necessary evils in #knitting. I never want to do them, but I’m always glad I did. Over 150 pins to open up this shawl. So happy with how this turned out. Yarn: Handmaiden mini maiden in Tourmaline. Pattern: High Desert by Romi Hill

Was about to use <input type=“number”> for the first time in years but remembered it had some usability & #a11y issues that were previously shared by the awesome folks at @[email protected]

Use <input type="text" inputmode="numeric" pattern="[0-9]*"> instead.

Why the GOV.UK Design System team changed the input type for numbers – Technology in government

We take a look at why the GOV.UK Design System changed the element it uses for inputting numbers, making it more accessible and easier to use
