At my local library, a little girl dropped her library books into the ‘return’ slot, waved and shouted “GOODBYE BOOKS, HAVE A GOOD DAY AT SCHOOL!” and my heart grew three sizes đŸ„ș
@johannamation O no, that is tooo cute! I wonder what the books learn at school aka the library ... Are old books teaching the young? Do they do sports? Chemistry? Art? Informatics? So many questions!
@jfml @johannamation cookery in many guises, if my local library is anything to go by.

Oh this sounds like something @MicroSFF would have written :)

@johannamation I worked for a year as a library clerk and one of my favorite moments was one little girl excitedly opening a book about space and pointed to a blurb about Eris, how that was HER name, and how it was after the name of the goddess of strife and discord.

She was wearing fairy wings and a unicorn horn hairband.

From a retired career Children's Librarian in GA, USA, my heart also grew three sizes while reading your post. Thanks.
@johannamation That shows you that, that kid has refused to be brainwashed. It's two ways through. Either she has found out that most of the things taught us back I schools were all deceptions and lies. Or she is ditching education for a more dangerous life. I would've wanted her to choose the former.
@johannamation I think my heart just melted.

A timely reminder to visit ALA.org.
@johannamation This made my day. Especially having just finished a book and will be sending it on for someone else to love.
@johannamation that is so adorable đŸ„°

@johannamation #Books have #feelings too.

Wishing everyone a good day at #school or whatever you do

@johannamation My littlest niece (3 years old) does stuff like this Every Time we go to the library for storytime, waving at the books and pushing then peeking through the slot at them, and my cheeks about burst from smiling every time.
@Josiah_Mannion @johannamation
Both of you should message the authors of the books in question about this
@johannamation I love when things like this happen. I've worked in a library for 15yrs
@johannamation Thank you for restoring a modicum of my faith in humanity on this dark, dreary day. 💜
@johannamation I love the implication that she saw the books’ time with her as their hanging-out time rather than their school time! Or alternatively, she figured the books were going back to school just like she was, which is equally adorable
@johannamation heart swells for a kindred spirit đŸ’—đŸ’–đŸ«
@johannamation aww! Amazingly, there is a French children’s book called The Book Goes To School, in which the book visits various places in the school before deciding that the best place is clearly the school library! https://www.ecoledesloisirs.fr/livre/livre-va-a-lecole

@johannamation
Many years ago, I was flying home from Marseille in France and watched a little kid bid "au revoir bagages" as they checked in.

I still sometimes bid "au revoir bagages" in my head (and with a perfect accent) when I check in

@johannamation I was in a local park the other day and a just-past-toddler walking out with her mom turned around and yelled "good bye playground I'll see you tomorrow" and I thought that was so great.
@johannamation @solient
I hope her experiences of school continue to be as good as this.

@johannamation
I always love the pre-vocal toddlers wandering around the library, babbling. Their caregiver following them about ten feet behind.

Cutest stuff ever.
