Yeah...
@wythran I've messed around with 8210, but these days I use the Lightphone 2.
I do still have an android phone kicking around for apps line online banking, 2 factor auth stuff etc, but it mostly sits switched off or with a flat battery rather than the old days where I'd literally doom scroll twitter on the laptop then for whatever reason pick up my phone and do the same on there! π©
Oh, lawdy, I am so guilty of this.
@SpectacledLangr Oh a notification from the bird site (even though I have all the newsy ones turned off by the way) - well I'd better see what it says.
*4 hours later *
Oh. I don't appear to have done anything productive today. And I'm feeling really anxious but I can't figure out why.
* Repeat semi daily *
me: closes my Mastodon app, switches off the phone
also me 2 seconds later: unlocks my phone, opens up the app again
Nope, I don't have any addiction problem. Why do you ask? π
@SpectacledLangr Fuck me, I did that last night. "I don't wanna just watch TV before bed."
/pulls out phone and watches youtube on it for 2 hours
all animals are at their most vulnerable while they're shitting and that's when the internet gets me
@SpectacledLangr how dare you attack me like this
HOW DARE
so true
@SpectacledLangr rofl too real....
It's like there is always room for dessert π
@SpectacledLangr My variant of this is:
COMPUTER: hi! this is your mandatory hand/eyeball break reminder. rest those things yo!! go take a break!!!
ME: yes! can do! *pushes chair back from desk, spins around, whips out smartphone*
COMPUTER: ugggghhhhhh buddyyyyyyyy π©
@SpectacledLangr saaaaaame!
even worse:
*that's enough work computer for now*
*moves to personal computer*
*that's enough internet for now*
*picks up laptop and phone sitting in front of tv running android tv*
Truth going "ouch"
@SpectacledLangr
Tech people are the biggest Luddite-curmudgeons, I swear.
Personally, I detest laptops because I used to repair them back in the 90s.
Everything is more expensive, the upgrade path is [bad word], and of course the battery turns to mush quickly, leaving you tethered to AC outlets, vastly reducing the convenience.
I mean they have their purpose. You can't travel easily with a desktop. Some people need to work around the world.
Often the more convenient an item is the more disposable it is. Luckily batteries can be replaced. The lifetime of a laptop can easily be 5 years
Ow... that stung.
