Where’s the best place to be? Why are folks on mastodon? Why are folks flocking to Bluesky?

Designers are being gaslighted into demonstrating impact, justifying value working just a little harder. My friends, we are being set up to fail in a giant, rotten system. Sara Wachter-Boettcher offers ways to reframe all of this, and stop beating ourselves up for failing to change something that it's not in our control.
Seeing her talk about this in Zurich resonated so much with me, I hope the article will resonate with you too.

Does Firefox not support the html5 link attribute of "download"? PDF links keep opening in a new tab, instead of downloading the PDF file like chrome & safari

<a href="pdf-file.pdf" download="NameofPDF.pdf">This PDF File [ PDF ]</a>.

Does Firefox depend on browser prefs for download and ignore download in the <a href...> ?

@beep Woa. AND, after its expanded, if you double-click again, it goes back to where it was.

i am thirty or forty years old and just learned that if you double-click on one edge of a macos window, the window expands out toward that edge of the screen

each and every one of you are on notice for not sharing this eldritch secret with me

@bphogan At an old job, the only way to score more than "meets expectations" was to "Fundamentally change the direction of the company" (Quote from the company owner) Which was very nearly impossible to do alone. As a manager this was horribly frustrating as I had to write reviews for my employees, many of who did way more than 'meet expectations', but their work didn't send the company off on some new trajectory.
@rlux @knitting This is my current TV knit. https://www.strickmich-shop.de/en/Viajante-DA2006.DE It takes a little bit of set up, but after that... it's just knit, knit, knit count rows, add a stitch and knit knit knit some more.

@peejmaybe @im Yep. I think this is it. If you want really lacy open things, you could still use larger needles. But typically the smaller the yarn, the smaller the needles.

The Musselburgh hat might be a good place to start. https://ysolda.com/products/musselburgh. Just a bunch of knit stiches and some decreases.

@redcrew We have some right now! For the first time since before Christmas, it feels like.
@redcrew We have the same phenomenon happening in northern Illinois. I'm perplexed. It's been so long since I've seen something like this. :)
