don’t tell me you can’t go federated viral because this thing did numbers

Tech workers, just a reminder that you have all the power at companies and don’t need to deal with this bullshit
Can we talk about how terrible launching a video game on PC has become? Remember which game market it was in, get inundated with ads, navigate to library (which is never the default view), click “play”, get asked by the game to log into their bullshit proprietary account, then get dumped into a launcher trying to get you to buy more crap, then, finally, launch the actual game.

Google has for years wanted to become Facebook - not necessarily a social media site, but a webpage you go to and stay on, so they have a captive audience for ads. The push for AI is entirely about that.
But that is pretty incompatible with what many people use it for - a website to find *other* websites. Because that use is at odds with Google’s revenue strategy it’s gotten much worse at it, and will continue to get worse. Maybe this is good?
No, it's very bad.
They claim 26% true positives, 9% false positives. Assume 10% of submitted homework is chatgpt generated, you get the classic counterintuitive outcome of poor predictive power: if a homework is flagged, there's a 3:1 chance it's *human* generated.
This is going to cause a lot of harm. It should be immediately recalled.
