The College Board Strips Down Its A.P. Curriculum for African American Studies
The official course looks different from a previous draft: No more critical race theory, and the study of contemporary topics — like Black Lives Matter — is optional.
This is a transparent lie that anybody reading will know is untrue. Coleman _knows_ that we'll know it to be untrue. The goal isn't to convince us of the truth, it's to oblige journalists to include it in a "to be fair" paragraph.
Florida Officials Had Repeated Contact With College Board Over African American Studies
A letter from state officials is likely to fuel controversy over the College Board, which has been accused of stripping or minimizing concepts to please conservatives.
@waldoj The College Board should be stripped down into nonexistence. It's a huge corporate shake down racket, pilfering millions of dollars each year from teens and their families who are desperate to get 5.0 gpa's so they can compete to get into the most elite and overpriced universities in the country.
@waldoj Although I think it's extremely hyperbolic to call this curriculum "white nationalism" (see https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/media/pdf/ap-african-american-studies-course-framework.pdf for much more detail) - and symptomatic of the sensationalism that can exist on social media even beyond the birdsite - it's true that the GOP has nothing to offer people other than culture wars. Their economic policies are deeply unpopular; this is all they have left.
@waldoj They make him look like an American Saint in this picture. The word being delivered from on high. God's conduit. Its crude symbolism bludgeons the accompanying article's mealy-mouthed attempt at 'objectivity'. What a shambles of journalistic integrity this is.
@waldoj I never thought I’d see America fall as low at it has since 2016. It’s like we rewound the clock 70 years and became who we said we’d never be again. It’s so disgraceful.
