Top birthday fun in #Lille , then #Ghent and #Canterbury tomorrow night. Waffles, chocolate, icy walks through beautiful city streets, cocktails, vino, Christmas markets and coffee. Thanks to my lovely partner for planning it all, and driving all the way.
#Paris has been wonderful. Spotted the #SacreCoeur from the #Pompidou centre today... like an ethereal heavenly city in the distance. Climbing those steps up to see it was down to earth hard graft, though! (Back soon.....)
Neil DrysdaleVery sad news about the death of Doddie Weir at just 52. I met him at Melrose in the early 1990s when he was only 21/22 and we hit it off, as most people did with this blithe lad. One thing we shouldn’t forget is that Doddie was a genuinely world-class rugby player who moved effortlessly to Newcastle Falcons, alongside Jonny Wilkinson, Va’aiga Tuigamala, Pat Lam, Gary Armstrong….great players all. He fought wonderfully hard against MND, but illness shouldn’t define him. He was a star!
