Kim (they/dey/iel)Yesterday I went through old photos and found those pictures taken in 2010 during my first #Paris visit. At the time, I spent some months in a French family which, for the first time in my life, made me aware of the importance of intercultural movement and exchange.
One of my grandfathers was a #nazi officer who killed foreigners at the eastern front in “WW2”. He could’ve killed French soldiers and kept French people under occupation just as well. Yet, this French family who, during “WW2”, was forced to feed German soldiers at their ranch welcomed me as if I was one of their own.
Today, I’m a scholar in cultural studies and French #literature working, amongst others, on the intersection of German and French #philosophy. I’m thankful for all people who supported me on the way, especially “my” French family 🫶🏼
May any kind of #nationalism be defeated soon 🛠️
