@keet I just tried it out on seven different makes and models of graphing calculators. The only one that gave an answer in R was the HP Prime. The others tested, TI nspire CX II CAS, Casio fx-CG100, Casio fx-CG500, Casio fx-CG50, Casio fx-9750GIII, and TI-89 Titanium all gave answers in Z.
As a contrast, all of my scientific calculators (Several Casios, Sharps, and TIs) all gave the answer in R while in Complex mode.
Thank you for giving me an excuse to play with my calculators!
Quick update. It's a Sunday, but I already got a response from TWSBI requesting my shipping address and a PayPal payment of $7 USD for shipping, and then confirmation that the payment had been received and shipping info will be posted tomorrow. Color me impressed!
My TWSBI Vac 700R fell victim to the resin cracks that TWSBI pens are known for. The pen is just barely two years old, and has always been in a case when not in active use. I'll let y'all know if their customer service is as good as I've heard!

Trying to find out how many people see a post without hashtags. Thank you!
(edit: Why, you ask? Long thread coming up … 1/7)
@ax6761 Here's an odd one for you:
Casio fx-115W from the mid '90s:
10 `+` 20 `%` gives 150
10 `x` 20 `%` gives 2
10 `-` 20 `%` gives -50
10 `/` 20 `%` gives 50
Looking through the manual for it, the examples given for what the addition and subtraction do:
Addition -- If 300 grams are added to a test sample
originally weighing 500 grams, what is the percentage increase in weight?
$$\frac{300+500}{500}\cdot100=160\%$$
Subtraction -- If temperature changes from 40°C to 46°C, what percentage did it rise?
$$\frac{46-40}{40}\cdot100=15\%$$
The other two Casio calculators that I have from before 2000, the fx-7700G and the CFX-9850G, are both graphing calculators that lack the % symbol/function entirely.
And I guess now I know if Mastodon supports LaTeX math as easily as I'd like, too!
... Con of #Casio_fx9750Giii, #Casio_fx9910CW is that multiplication in function definition is not implicit.
Neither can do #percent_arithmetic, eg "x(1+0.2)" for "x+20%" (latter works as I want|expect on "Calculator"/iOS application by Apple corp & "PCalc Lite"/iOS by TLA Systems Ltd).
fx-9750Giii does not even have a percent key|function, or was not able to find one. Fear not, for Casio BASIC is there to write a program, tediously; did.
My new Dalvey Half Hunter Pocket Watch in Cerulean Blue. It has a 17-crystal Sea-Gull movement, and after doing some digging I think it is the ST3600K. It seems to lose about a minute a day, but watching it is mesmerizing, and it adds a lovely amount of heft to a waistcoat pocket.
I've been carrying a Relic Folio with quartz movement for more than thirty years, but the numbers have started coming off of the dial. I figured it was time for a new one, and this is a gorgeous device!
