Had a few quotes in this Christian Science Monitor piece on #Holocaust #reparations and possibilities for #justice in the aftermath of atrocities. Tried to say something even-handed about the discourse of justice in light of the most recent cycle of violence in #Israel #Palestine, but I imagine others will let me know how depraved I am for seeing the conflict in these terms.
Reminder re: our 10th Network Conference. June 25-28, 2024. Vienna, 🇦🇹.

Grassroots Groups Are Doing Small-Scale #Reparations in Absence of Federal Action
One reparations group in #Portland, #Oregon, is working to redistribute wealth and enable Black residents to own homes.
“Advocates say that in order to turn #reparations from an academic debate into a political reality, they must first close what they call the “hope gap,” the chasm among Black voters who support reparations but believe they are politically unfeasible. According to a WasPo-Ipsos poll conducted last spring, 75 percent of Black Americans said the government should compensate descendants of enslaved people, yet only 14 percent believed it would happen in their lifetimes.”
Some major #justice news from New York to wind down 2023.
