A priest in the Episcopal Church in Hawai'i, husband, parent, surfer, occasional writer, frequent over-thinker. Forgiven, just like you.

Today, we're taking a look at what makes the Episcopal Church distinctly #Episcopal and why such a thing matters.

We go live at 2:30 Hawai'i time.

Who called them fake plants and not fauxliage
I’ve been seeing a LOT of #AISlop on various #Christian posts in recent months. Come on, fam, we need to be better than this. Jesus doesn’t want us to steal water from those who thirst in order to make mediocre images (of which there is no shortage of freely accessible icons and stained glass one could procure).
@ossobuffo I’ve written about five egg tempera icons, the biggest being 11”x14” or so. Every time I enter an Orthodox Church I’m always blown away by the large icons, and cannot wrap my mind around how one produces an icon at that scale. Truly a spiritual gift.
Yesterday my daughter had her first #hula performance. Here’s a photo my wife snapped of me placing a lei on her after the performance was done.

I’m so proud!

Fun fact: the typeface is that from my #Sony Clíe palm device. I just wrote the word “splinter” loaded it on my PC and then blew up the image size using Word. I thought the pixelation looked cool.
From when I was cool: In my late teens I started a ministry for skateboarders and we called it splinter. I made this stencil so we could spray paint the logo on boards (I used to put it on both skateboards and surfboards). Just came across the stencil as i was digging through old stuff as part of a writing project.
A photo from around 2013, when I was a brand new priest-in-charge in Boca Raton, secretly snapped by a parishioner. Next to me is Faye, our deacon, who died several months back. A true living saint while alive.

My hair is an unnatural orange color because it was recovering from having been dyed pink as part of a youth trip I’d led.

I was still so new in my vocation but am still so enamored with the Holy Mysteries.

If I've learned anything from my years of following #mosstodon it's that I must visit Devon at some point in my life.
