Elon Musk banned me from Twitter

The unsuspended journalist accounts returning to Twitter to continue to maintain the value of that platform for a megalomaniacal fascist who hates them and everyone like them and will do worse things is… something.

Someone on here said to me recently, there are no happy endings, only sad beginnings.

We're in a sad beginning moment.

We built some really beautiful stuff, but we built it on a foundation of sand and it is rapidly washing away.

We can and should mourn, but we also need to learn, plan, and organize.

That's how we turn moments of loss into moments of growth. Always.

The wealthy don't want to eliminate poverty, they just want to be seen like they're doing it.

See the millions spent annually on DAVOS, with nothing to show for it.

See how many wealthy assholes fell for "Effective Altruism" --which of course turned out to be nothing but more grift.

Tax the motherfucking billionaires, force them to pay good wages, and let us have universal healthcare that works.

People trying to decide between Post.News and Mastodon:

"My eyeballs were sold to a new master, who I don't like. Do I offer my eyeballs to a new master I might like better or do I join free people who seem to enjoy not having to sell their eyeballs at all?"

What lesson are you going to learn from this debacle?

Time it was said, #journos #journalists: you created Trump™️. Now you’re creating Musk™️.

Yes, you are, for your own profit and benefit, suckering the masses just as they are doing.

Stop helping them. Report better. Find a better way to monetize your careers.

An entitled rich dude is wrecking a business. That is NOT news. What IS news is our collective willingness to prop him up and feed his failure instead of rendering him irrelevant by replacing his platform with a better one.

In Texas an Sri Lanken-American named Rajan Moonsinghe got a gun to protect his home. Suspecting a burglar he stood on his front porch. Cops arrived unannounced & shot him dead in less than 1 sec. And the NRA is silent. This is a trend.

Before Rajan, when cops killed Tamir Rice for a toy gun in an open carry state—NRA was 🤐. When cops killed legal gun owner Philando Castille, NRA was 🤐. But when Rittenhouse killed 2 people, NRA called him " a warrior for gun owners!”

2A doesn't apply to BIPOC.

WTF is wrong with these people!?

The U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments Monday in one of the most important cases of the term, a case that will determine if the nation's highest court will or will not allow a person citing their personal religious beliefs to openly discriminate in the marketplace against same-sex couples. In li...

Raw Story - Celebrating 18 Years of Independent Journalism

This by @emptywheel is really helpful. Wheeler shows how "liberal" journalists can end up abetting propaganda that seeks to ratchet up tribalism in the right-wing base. The journalist she focuses on claims to criticize that tribalism, but Wheeler shows how said journalist's methods are themselves harmful because (a) they help magnify the exact rhetoric of incitement; and (b) they *ignore strategies that might help defuse incipient violence*.

Trump Is a Mob Boss Whose Omertà Has Started to Fail - emptywheel

On the way that the two Pats, Cipollone and Philbin, testified for ten hours about Trump's crimes, he ratcheted up his wails to try to hide and reverse his vulnerability.

Our 9-year-old son came home from school & said that some boys at recess offered to play with him if 'he hugged & kissed a girl.'

He responded to them, "No, that's inappropriate," & told us he didn't mind not being able to play with those boys after all. Afterwards his teacher shared she was happy he stood up to peer pressure.

Y'all—it's never too early to teach boys about consent and boundaries. Have the conversation. Then have it again. And again. Boys will be the boys we teach them to be.
