Join us to celebrate the launch of the Endangered Languages Project's FREE mentoring program for revitalization practitioners! The mentors are here to accompany you, wherever you are in your language revitalization journey. They can help you find and navigate useful learning resources, discuss any challenges or questions you have about your language work, and provide encouragement and guidance to anyone who is working to keep their language strong. Come meet the mentors - Alexandra Philbin, Pius Akumbu, Yazmín Novelo, and Yulha Lhawa - and learn about how communities are revitalizing their languages all around the world. Day two of the #Tunica language #immersion workshop is done. It’s been the most well-attended Tunica immersion by far. I hope attendees continue to engage with the language through classes or just using Tunica words in everyday conversation.

The video of the language apprentices’ journey to becoming assistant language instructors is a good intro to the language program and (I hope) a great recruitment tool for learners and linguists!

The Beatles’ ‘Blackbird’ Sung in the Indigenous Mi’kmaq Language

Mi'kmaq language, an Eastern Algonquian language spoken by nearly 11,000 in Canada and the United States. A member of the Eskasoni First Nation, the Nova Scotia student sang lyrics that were painstakingly translated by Katani Julian, a teacher who works in language revitalization.

Abao is a major pop star in Taiwan, and she sings mostly in her Indigenous language, Paiwan. Paiwan is one of the 16 officially recognized Indigenous groups in Taiwan.
