Have you ever had questions about how to keep your language strong? Would you like to talk through your language work with an experienced, compassionate person? Or would you just like to learn more about #LanguageRevitalization ?

This International Mother Language Day, February 21, we are honored to officially launch the ELP Language Revitalization Mentors program. http://bit.ly/mentors-launch
Welcome! You are invited to join a meeting: ELP Language Revitalization Mentors Launch & Open House. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email about joining the meeting.

Join us to celebrate the launch of the Endangered Languages Project's FREE mentoring program for revitalization practitioners! The mentors are here to accompany you, wherever you are in your language revitalization journey. They can help you find and navigate useful learning resources, discuss any challenges or questions you have about your language work, and provide encouragement and guidance to anyone who is working to keep their language strong. Come meet the mentors - Alexandra Philbin, Pius Akumbu, Yazmín Novelo, and Yulha Lhawa - and learn about how communities are revitalizing their languages all around the world. We hope to see you there!

Happy #MusicMonday! We're kicking off 2023 with this fabulous track by Abao.

Abao is a major pop star in Taiwan, and she sings mostly in her Indigenous language, Paiwan. Paiwan is one of the 16 officially recognized Indigenous groups in Taiwan.

Check out this great NPR article on her music, and the growing space for Indigenous languages in Taiwan's music scene: https://www.npr.org/2022/12/28/1144248191/taiwan-music-abao-indigenous

One of Taiwan's biggest pop stars sings in an Indigenous language

Abao sings in the Paiwan language — not Chinese, which dominates Taiwan's pop music industry. Her popularity reflects the island's overdue recognition and awareness of Indigenous culture.
