Hello Mastodon, Bonjour Fediverse!

I'm here to talk about entertainment from gaming to anime to movies to live action series even if my main focus is gaming as I love playing on my Nintendo Switch! I also have a gaming PC but don't have much time for it sadly ^_^"

Anyway, welcome to my page! I want to be a kind and respectful influence here!

@[email protected] yeah, adding friction tends to discourage a lot of people as it requires time and effort and here Elon removed the friction so harassment will be more likely
@TheChimpyMan let's see how tolerant people will be
@rakuno Well, at least if it can make many people try the alternatives like Threads, Mastodon and Bluesky it's all good

I'm no longer on Twitter / X but if I was it'd be THE motive to leave this place.

This new 'block' function is the real life equivalent of courts/police allowing a harasser to stay near you, see you but not talk to you or send you signals of any kind

The old block was the equivalent of removing the harasser entirely, which is much safer!

@benjaminbuse Yeah, given it's opt-in and many Threads users don't know what the Fediverse is I don't think there are that many Threads accounts that are federated but let's give it time : as Threads grows and people learn about Fediverse there'll be a steady growth :)

And for now EU users of Threads don't even have the option to federate at all for some reason so it doesn't help

@MarineHaddock Well, it actually has one 😉
@[email protected] Yeah, never understood why Bluesky didn't adopt ActivityPub, they'd be more successful
@MarineHaddock A social media without an app is pretty much a dead app considering over 90% of the traffic comes from mobile, it's not really surprising ^_^"

@jake4480 That's because you're not using it and counting on hearsay and that tends to give a distorted vision of reality, all my fellow gamers are constantly in awe of how nice and respectful the gaming community is on the platform and it's true that it's a massive change from X. All I see are people talking about what they like instead of what they hate and it's refreshing

Not saying Threads is perfect: they need more features and a better AI moderation but as a whole it's a nice place

@jake4480 I love Threads, many good people there and the most lovable gaming community I've ever seen on the Internet :)
