Some interesting information I’ve learned about the setup in #Xenoblade Genesis (Based on my “squint and guess” translation of a Misskey account that claims to dumpster dive in Kyoto)
MC shows up at Elf School.
Elf School is split into 4 Dorms (not “houses”, they are legally distinct)
Dorm 1 - Picks their leader by Battle Royale. As such they are good fighters, but they have that “Sexy Villain” thing going on too. They aren’t necessary evil, but they all have some kinda trauma bonding that causes them to be edgy and lash out. Leader is “Malin” and 2nd in command is “Jim” (should be most obvious romance path for masc enjoyers)
Dorm 2 - Studious dorm. They pick their leaders based on merit based nominations, then those nominations are ran through a series of really complex calculations and trials. Despite seemingly being very scientific, they can really spout out a bunch of philosophical wank. In the past The Calculation had picked both a male and female leader, but this year, The Calculation has picked a single non-binary leader named “※” (niche, but hella uplifting romance path)
Dorm 3 - “Power of Friendship Dorm”. Working hard to support others is really how this dorm gets down. Seems kinda generic Shounen, but will grab a lot of players when they see the leaders are these built-for-fan-service twins, Helle & Patrice. (generic fan service romance paths, but catch is it’s a harem finish). Fans of this romance path will debate for eons on which sister is best. 2nd in command is this awesome big sister type (who’s merits will also be debated for eons, many will claim “they were wasted” in this game)
Dorm 4 - Critter Hall. Full of Nopon or those Snarfs we saw in the trailer. Off limits to MC for joining, but could become a very powerful ally. Leader is chosen by complicated Heraldry inside Critter community, but there is also Hero Critter (critter who is in the most debt to Critter Community). No romance option (this will definitely piss off a very specific type of player. Romance option may appear in DLC, but will be a huge “be careful what you wish for” type event)
